Overview
The Emotiv EPOC is a 14-channel wireless EEG system (proprietary wireless interface) using saline electrodes. This device uses a low-power Nordic Semiconductor's chipset - it does not use Bluetooth. However, later EEG models released by Emotiv do use BT4.0, specifically, the Emotiv Insight and the Emotiv EPOC+.
The Emotiv EPOC was using (see see also scubasonar's images here)...
- A Microchip dsPIC33F (dsPIC33FJ64GP206) MCU (microcontroller) (w/ CodeGuard™ Security)
- A Nordic Semiconductor nRF24L01 Ultra Low Power 2.4GHz RF transceiver IC (GFSK modulation)
- Two Texas Instruments TLC2264A (marked P2264AI) OpAmps
- One Analog Devices ADG706 16 -> 1 Multiplexer
- A Texas Instruments ADS8326 ADC
- An InvenSense IDG-300 Dual-Axis Gyro
- (per FCC photos) a ETI TECH (M) SDN.BHD. G01010290218 (UT1) Li-Poly battery
... and the USB receiver dongle (Emotiv EPOC USB L01) was using a...
- A Cypress Semiconductor CY7C64215 (enCoRe III) Full-Speed (12Mbps) USB Controller for the HID interface
- .. and another Nordic Semiconductor nRF24L01 Ultra Low Power 2.4GHz RF transceiver IC for the other side of the wireless connection
The EPOC was/is probably manufactured in the Philippines by Dae Kyung Phils. Co., Inc. (DKP). [1] [2]
